Meet Colwyn Bay's Monique
At the end of her first two months with Newcross, we catch up with Monique Thomas to find out how she’s finding her new role in the Colwyn Bay family.
As someone who was looking to fulfil her potential, Monique was excited to begin a new challenge as Business Centre Manager, within a company that shares the same core values of trust and honesty.
How are you finding your first weeks as BCM?
“I am absolutely loving my new role. There is so much to learn and the support I have received has been phenomenal. No two days are the same. The job role is varied and some aspects can be challenging but I thrive off a challenge.”
Is there something you’re really looking forward to getting stuck in to?
“Growing the client base across the North Wales Coast so Team Colwyn Bay over achieve on targets & most importantly providing high quality care to service users in the area.”
Do you have a most memorable moment so far?
“It is fair to say I have a few. One moment was leaving a client visit with my first ever first call agreement signed. Another proud moment would be my branch achieving 150% of target! I have such a great team!”
What expertise are you bringing to the team?
“Before my Newcross journey began, I worked in the newspaper and digital advertising sales industry as a sales manager for a local newspaper for 11 years. I achieved best sales person for four consecutive years and ensured my newspaper was the best performing in the group in my time there. I plan on working the same magic on the Colwyn Bay branch, smashing targets and ensuring that we provide consistently excellent standards of care to local people.”
Local knowledge can be really useful to BCMs, have you lived in the Colwyn Bay area for long?
“I am originally from North Wales and had the pleasure of growing up in the seaside resort of Rhyl, 20 minutes away from Colwyn Bay. I am proud of my roots and feel so lucky to have grown up on the beautiful North Wales Coast. My knowledge of the local area, nearby care establishments and potential clients is going to come in really handy. It’ll be difficult to get lost on client visits!”
When the 9-5 day is done, what do you like to do with your time?
“Outside of work my priority is my three beautiful boys. We do craft hobbies together, go on walking adventures, play football and just make memories. I do like to hit the gym too as chocolate and Chinese are a weakness of mine.”
Do you have a motto that you like to live by?
“PMA ALL THE WAY - Positive Mental Attitude. I am a very positive person and my personal motto is to always be positive & thankful.”
Are there any interesting / fun facts that you would like to share with us all?
“5 years ago I got engaged in Paris and 4 months after we ran away & got married in secret on a beach in St Lucia. I'm also scared of the dark & spiders!”
