Our commitment to the real Living Wage
At Newcross Healthcare, all healthcare workers, regardless of location, are paid more than the London Living Wage and we are pleased to share that we are now an accredited Living Wage Employer.
Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Newcross receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.90 in the UK or £11.05 in London. Both rates are significantly higher than the government minimum, which currently stands at £8.91 per hour. We recognise that our community of nurses and carers face a wide range of cost of living pressures at this challenging time, and all our healthcare workers are paid more than the London Living Wage, regardless of location. Now more than ever, we believe they deserve more and to be rewarded for providing outstanding care to those who need it.
We exist to transform and personalise the experience of care and are committed to building and investing in the workforce of the future. An ever-expanding and increasingly highly trained team, providing the best levels of care to people, wherever they are. Being a nurse or carer offers a rewarding yet challenging career, and we truly appreciate the vital work that each and every one of our incredible army of nurses and carers do, working with dedication across every part of the country. As an accredited Living Wage Employer, we are committed to ensuring all our healthcare community are recognised and rewarded for their outstanding work.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011, the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 300,000 people and put over £1.6 billion extra into the pockets of essential paid workers.
Stephen Pattrick (Newcross Co-founder and CEO) said " We are delighted Newcross Healthcare is now an accredited Living Wage Employer. At Newcross, we have always been committed to ensuring that our community of nurses and carers are rewarded for the outstanding work they do. We value our community, and ensuring they have competitive, market-leading rates of pay is not only the right thing to do, it also makes good business sense – improving staff motivation, retention and commitment.
Michelle Gorringe (Newcross Co-founder and COO) said, "We're proud to pay the real Living Wage as it reflects the importance of our nurses and carers. They bring our purpose and values to life every day, providing outstanding care to those who need it. We want to be an employer of choice and paying the Living Wage to all who contribute to what we do is the only place to start."
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Newcross Healthcare has joined the movement of almost 9,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on. They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Newcross, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay."
