Categories

On 12th May, International Nurses Day, after a long and difficult deliberation Newcross announced the winner of the prestigious Annual Excellence in Healthcare Award.

Michelle Pattrick RN, Managing Director, commented that:

"This was a very tough decision.   I used the information sent to me by the branches and also viewed the information on each finalist contained on our bespoke IT Bookings system.  All of the finalists were worthy of winning the prestigious Annual Excellence in Healthcare Award: they are all a credit to Newcross and to themselves, however, there had to be one winner ...."

The finalists in the running were:

  • Bournemouth HCA  Sathsara Hewa Batage
  • Fife  HCA  William McLaren
  • Sebastian Kuczera HCA Liverpool
  • Violet Machona RGN Bristol

And the winner:

Sebastian Kuczera!

Michelle Pattrick continued:

"Seb Kuczera has worked for us since January 2007 and has excellent assessment scores from clients at 91.11 %.  He has excellent feedback from clients with comments such as 'he carries out his instructions 10 x more than required' and 'he is a credit to Newcross'.  I was also impressed by Business Centre Manager, Ruth Bellis', comment that Seb hired a car over the Christmas  period when we had extreme weather to ensure that he could get to work: this is an excellent example of 'good to great' behaviour. Seb is a worthy winner and I would like to thank him for his continued hard work and dedication.  He is a credit to Newcross and the healthcare profession"

Additional comments from clients and colleagues since Seb won his Quarter 3 Award include:

Ennerdale Nursing Centre - Sandra Berry "Seb is fantastic! He works so hard when he is here, you ask him to do something and he does it ten times more. He goes above and beyond his job, any spare time he has he doesn't sit down and have a rest for himself he takes himself off to sit with clients and talk to them. His interaction with the clients is brilliant. All our staff love him and he is a total credit to you. Staff like him is why we use Newcross"

Cathy Hilditch St Joseph's hospice "We love him here, lovely with the patients, very sensitive and mixes well with patients and relatives in such an emotional environment. We always asked for him first. He gets on will all the staff and is really hard working"

Colleague Mark Ingram - "I have worked with Seb at Christopher Grange when I was an RGN there is charge - what a cracking worker, he adaptable to anything I asked him to do; I was impressed with his initiative he knew what he was doing and just went with it. It is a very busy unit and he just gelled with the team and got on with it. He was fantastic with the clients; the way he interacted with them was fabulous"

Ruth Bellis, BCM "If I had a 100 Sebs I would be a very happy manager!! I can't find a fault with Seb, he is brilliant and was over the moon when he was nominated last time so I know this will mean so much to him"

Seb will be presented by one of the Senior Management Team with a £500 cheque along with winner's trophy and certificate!

Close runners up were Sathsara in Bournemouth and Violet in Bristol but really all the finalist are winners, all are exceptional in their own way and a real credit to Newcross.  As such each will be presented with a bottle of champagne and certificate.

What better way to celebrate Nurses Day 2011!
