Job Title:          Lead Nurse (Behavioural and housing with care service line)

Reporting to:    Director of Nursing and Quality

Location:          Remote with requirements to travel for meetings and training and as identified in line with business need.

Salary:              Up to £40,000 + Up to 10% pa bonus

Who are you?

As a Service Line Lead Nurse you will take on a central role in delivering clinical and regulatory support across Newcross Healthcare’s Housing with Care, Specialist & Behavioural Care, and other identified service lines. You will report directly to the Director of Nursing and Quality, this position entails a wide range of responsibilities, from assisting with recruitment to offering expert clinical and managerial guidance.

The Lead Nurse will work closely with our Community and HealthForce teams to maintain regulatory compliance, promote clinical excellence, and drive ongoing improvements in service quality.

You will have a General Nursing Qualification (RN1 or RNA), with potential for dual registration (e.g.,

General/Mental Health Nurse) along with a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in various nursing sectors, including management roles.  You will be able to demonstrate effective and concise communication skills with the ability to influence others as well as be a team player with strong record-keeping abilities.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of healthcare industry regulations within England, Scotland, and Wales (e.g., CQC, Care Inspectorate, SSSC, CSSIW) and proficiency in NMC Code, revalidation, and Continual Professional Development.

What will you do?

Whilst a full job description can be supplied here are a few of the key responsibilities for the role:

  • Assisting in nurse recruitment, particularly for HealthForce, to ensure the hiring of qualified staff.
  • Providing autonomous, high-quality clinical and management advice, participates in projects to embed quality and clinical excellence, and supports branch staff with NMC or Safeguarding referrals.
  • Advising non-clinical managers on handling clinical complaints, supporting the identification and management of serious incidents, and communicating clinical concerns to the Director of Nursing and Quality.
  • Attend management meetings, contributes to performance enhancements, engage in performance reviews, and pursues professional development opportunities.
  • Conducting regular audits of clinical practices to ensure compliance with standards, collaborating with the Quality Team on audit protocols, and developing action plans based on audit findings to enhance service quality.
  • Provideing guidance to staff on clinical compliance, facilitates training sessions, and collaborates with the Director of Nursing and Quality to update clinical policies.
  • Supporting internal audit and planning alongside the Head of Internal Audit, participates in external audits and inspections
  • Assisting with out-of-hours clinical on-call duties to support HealthForce and Community Care.
