Newcross donates a further £10K to ShelterBox's Nepal appeal

We have donated a further £10,000 to ShelterBox, to help people left homeless following the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which hit Nepal on Saturday 25th April.  The total donated on behalf of Newcross employees now stands at £20,310 but we are calling on you to help us raise even more money.

The growing death toll from the recent earthquake now stands at over 7500, with an estimated 8 million people affected throughout Nepal, parts of China and India.  The destruction of houses during the quake and subsequent aftershocks have left hundreds of thousands of people with no choice but to sleep outdoors, with the monsoon season fast approaching, the risk of cholera rising and the enormity of the crisis situation still unfolding.

ShelterBox provide life-saving  relief to those in need including emergency shelter in the form of a high quality disaster relief tents, warm blankets, ground sheets, tools, water purification kits, cooking and eating utensils and activity packs for children. Each box costs £590, which means the Newcross team have been able to support 33 families with immediate aid.

Stephen Pattrick, CEO of Newcross Healthcare says “Our donation to ShelterBox is a gift from every one of us at Newcross Healthcare, to support the vital work that the charity undertakes and comes directly from the hard work, commitment and devotion of our employees.  I am proud of the team for both their generosity and continued dedication to help those in difficulty.”

Alison WallaceCEO of ShelterBox, says ‘Newcross Healthcare has been extraordinarily generous before, so it is no surprise that they have been moved to donate again to help the people of Nepal. ShelterBox’s response has been swift, but we anticipate it will also need to be long-running. We are so grateful for Newcross Healthcare’s support.’
