Newcross gets creative for Macmillan Cancer Support!

On Tuesday 24th September, Newcross went green once again to support this year's Macmillan Coffee Morning. The theme may have been coffee and cake, but there was an incredible variety of fundraising events throughout the country, as Newcross employees from Truro to Inverness got behind Macmillan Cancer Support.

Branches hosted their own coffee mornings, inviting staff and members of the public in for coffee and cake (for a small donation, of course!). Members of staff across the country used the chance to show off their baking skills, with a host of perfectly decorated, delicious green treats! Newcross held its own cake competition, judged for both taste and presentation, whilst Head of Finance Steve Willis channelled Benny Hill by being 'pied in the face' by the highest bidder.

Just some of the fundraising events Newcross hosted!

The fundraising did not stop there, however. There was fancy dress throughout every branch, as well as a number of raffles, bake-offs and even a chance for children to 'be the Manager' of our Falkirk office, with Business Centre Manager Owen Edwards temporarily relinquishing his chair to some young protégés!

Mandy Hamilton, Regional Operations Manager for the South West, also went all-out in her support of the world's biggest coffee morning, turning down the chance of a nice, warm beverage in favour of Newcross' own version of Bush Tucker Trials. With the South West branches plotting their courses for weeks, Mandy was treated to minced heart faggot and an assortment of insects and slimy surprises, washing it all down with some pond water! But Mandy rose to the challenge, and in doing so raised an incredible £310 and counting.

With events planned throughout the week, there is still a chance to raise money for this fantastic cause. Just pop into your local branch today where we will be collecting donations. Keep your eyes peeled for the final totals next week, and thank you to everyone who participated and made this such a successful day for such a worthy cause!
