Newcross Healthcare is proud to announce our sponsorship of an exciting summer sports project for young people with learning disabilities. Newcross is supporting Lifeworks' "Breaking the Barrier" events taking place in July and September this year. Breaking the Barrier is a unique project that offers free opportunities for children and young adults with learning disabilities to take part in sporting activities, while developing social skills and confidence.

This summer there will be three events that offer learning disabled young people the chance to take part in surfing lessons alongside their families and siblings, free of charge. Each participant will be accompanied on a tandem surf board by a qualified surfing instructor who will be on hand to offer encouragement, instruction and above all to make sure it's an enjoyable and rewarding experience! There are relatively few opportunities for young people with learning disabilities to try new sporting events in such a supportive environment, and we felt compelled to support this fantastic project.

Newcross Healthcare has always had a commitment to excellence in everything we do, and the work of Lifeworks UK caught our attention because they are driven to a similar vision. Their approach to inclusion and creating opportunities echoes our ethos as a company, so we're delighted to support Breaking the Barrier 2012.

Each event will also have music, food and a real family atmosphere, so it's perfect for the whole family to attend to support those taking part in the surfing. Stay tuned for the photos of our days on the sand supporting Lifeworks!
