Scottish MSP launched Newcross’ Macmillan Season in Kirkcaldy

Kirkcaldy team supporting Macmillan coffee morning

Newcross Healthcare was delighted to support Macmillan Cancer Research throughout 2015, by holding coffee mornings in their branches across the UK raising a total of £1226.43.  Newcross’ first coffee morning was held in its Kirkcaldy branch on Friday 4 September, raising a whopping £400!

The theme for the event was ‘Joining Together: Quality, Compliance and Policy.’ Joining Jayne and invited guests will be representatives from the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and Adult Protection and Newcross Head of Clinical Excellence, Lena Walliman (RN).

While enjoying coffee, cake and the famous tablet, discussions centred on working to raise standards of practice and support professionalism in healthcare. Invitees received information about SSSC requirements and how nurses and midwives can help prepare for Revalidation for The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Newcross Territory Manager, Hazel Mitchell (RN) who organised the event said: “We are delighted that our MSP Jayne Baxter and invited guests from the SSSC and Adult Protection are able to join us not only to raise money for such an important cause but also to discuss how we can work together to raise quality standards and best practice in healthcare.”

Jayne Baxter MSP went on to say: “I am very pleased to support this event, which will not only raise awareness around improving healthcare standards but raise money for Macmillan. One in three of us will face cancer, and the money raised will go towards helping the charity make sure no one has to face it alone.”
