Newcross Nurse of the Year

Today marks the launch of the Newcross Healthcare Solutions Nurse of the Year.  Over the next month and a half, the team at Newcross will be working with staff across their regional branches from Fife to Truro to find this year's "Newcross Nurse of the Year".

Michelle Pattrick, Managing Director at Newcross explained, "This is a real opportunity for us to focus and reward the high nursing and care standards delivered by our 2,500 plus team.  We regularly receive letters and emails from clients expressing their thanks for a member of staff who has gone that extra mile.  Just as one example, we recently had a call from a client who wanted to send some flowers to one of our nurses after she had alerted the fire brigade to the fact that a group of youths had set fire to a car outside a care home, causing the residents great distress.

Our business is caring for people and we have a growing number of long term patients and they become close friends.  Even when we stop caring for clients due to age or a change of their circumstances, our nurses still stay in touch and visit them.  For instance in Torquay, a client that we had worked with for a long time celebrated her 100th birthday only the other week, our nurse assessor Jenny Osbourne and carer Donna Woodburn went to her care home to celebrate with her.

Nursing can be both tough and rewarding, the hours are long and there can be some pretty tricky situations that our nursing staff have to deal with sometimes.  At Newcross we provide exceptionally high standards of training and support where possible and we hope that our staff feel part of a large community.  This reward will go to a pretty amazing nurse or healthcare worker"

Branch staff and head office staff will be involved in this process before the winner of 2009 is announced on Tuesday 8th December.  The lucky winner will receive a prize of £500.
