Newcross pledges to become Dementia Friendly!

Newcross Healthcare Solutions has pledged to support Dementia Friends by encouraging employees to sign up to the initiative in 2016.

Dementia Friends is a social action movement run by the Alzheimer’s Society since March 2013, aiming to remove the stigma and give as many people across England and Wales an understanding of dementia, and some of the actions we can take to help those living with the condition.

Newcross prides itself in their support of charitable causes and last year alone donated almost £25,000 to charities such as Shelter Box, Children in Need and Marie Curie.

By becoming a Dementia Friend, Newcross employees will have the chance to learn more about what it's like to live with dementia through attending a face-to-face information session or by watching their online video. From telling friends about Dementia Friends to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

Michelle Gorringe, Newcross Managing Director said, “Dementia Friends is a fantastic initiative, raising awareness of the effect that dementia can have on a persons’ life.

“By encouraging all of our staff members to sign up to become Dementia Friendly, we hope that we can help to build a more compassionate community so that those with dementia feel supported and confident to live happy, independent lives, where possible.”
