The Perfect Nurse?
Does the perfect nurse exist? Our very first Clinical Excellence Conference debated what characteristics and skills would make the perfect nurse, as well as tackling issues including Dementia and risk assessments.
The team were welcomed to Bristol at the Radisson Blu, where they experienced in-depth presentations on recruiting the very best nurses to our already exceptional work force. Led by Michelle Gorringe, Managing Director and chaired by Juliette Millard, Head of Clinical Excellence, the day was well attended by our Complex Care and Clinical Excellence Lead Nurses and Managers.
Crash courses were also held on our innovative #Nurchat Twitter talks, plus risk assessments to make your lives easier. Nurchat runs every fortnight and is an open, online community where anyone interested in healthcare can get involved. You can access our previous discussions here.
With our company pledge to increase awareness of Dementia, our Scottish Clinical Trainer, Gail Mcadam facilitated a hands on session, designed to promote the understanding of what it’s like to live with a debilitating disease. Participants were asked to wear gloves with the fingers tied together, blacked out glasses and objects in their shoes. To make it even more interesting they were then given a set of tasks, including pouring a glass of water, to give everyone an insight into managing tasks when you have an impairment. The day gave our nurses a chance to gain more clinical knowledge and build valuable relationships around the business.
Interactive activities were held throughout the day.
Mandy Hamilton, the South West Regional Manager said “What a fantastic couple of days it was. It was great to see so many dedicated and talented people in one room, it was very inspiring.”
