Welcoming Terrie to Maidstone

A Warm Newcross Healthcare Welcome to Terrie Johnson and the New Maidstone Branch

In May, Newcross Healthcare Solutions will be opening a branch in Maidstone Kent.  Located close to London, the branch will provide our clients in the southeast of England with qualified nurses, support workers, and care assistants.

According to historical records, there has been a settlement on the spot where Maidstone now resides since before the Stone Age. Maidstone was officially made a town in 1549 after being granted a royal charter and thanks to its location on the River Medway it has been an important trade hub for Kent and the southeast ever since.

A fun fact for dinosaur lovers is that in 1834 one of Maidstone’s most famous residents was unearthed in a quarry in Queen’s Road. The remains of a 13-metre long Iguanodon was discovered, the townspeople went on to nickname the Dino ‘Iggy’. A cast of the 125-million-year-old creature now stands in Maidstone Museum. Iggy is also part of the town’s coat of arms, the first dinosaur to ever be granted such an hour.

Over the years the town has evolved from a heavy industrial town in the Victorian Age to one that is now focused on the service industry and light manufacturing.
