As a Paediatric Community Care Worker, you will provide life enhancing, person centred care to people within their own homes in. Your compassion and dedication will help people live safely, with dignity and independence.
Due to a genuine occupational requirement, female only applicants will be considered for this role. The client is looking for someone who is patient, calm, observant and kind. Someone who takes the time to understand their routines and listens to how they communicate along with making them feel safe, valued and happy.
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated carer to support a child with complex clinical care needs at home. They will require full support with the following:
Administering all nutritional, hydration and medication through MIC-KEY gastrostomy button
Monitoring ventilation settings to ensure they receive adequate ventilation overnight
Administering oxygen therapy in line with their prescribed oxygen protocol
Monitoring and accurately documenting seizure activity and responding appropriately
Observing and managing dystonic episodes including documentation and timely responses
Continously observing client throughout the night for any signs of deterioration and responding safely and promptly in line with their care plan and clinical protocols
Your responsibilities:
Personal care and support: Assisting with daily routines to promote comfort and wellbeing
Companionship: Offering warmth, kindness and a friendly face
Promoting independence: Encouraging clients to live fulfilled lives with autonomy
Community access: Helping children engage in their local community
Medication support: Safe, timely administration of medication
Specialist clinical care (where applicable): Supporting client with complex needs confidently and competently including Enteral Feeding, Epilepsy and Seizure Awareness, Airway Management, medication administration and Basic Observations
What we’re looking for:
At least 6 months of paid professional care experience (or personal care experience in the UK)
Confidence supporting individuals with limited mobility (moving and handling)
The right to work in the UK
Registration with SSSC (applicants in Scotland) or SCW (applicants in Wales)
Ability to understand both verbal and written English to follow care plans and communicate effectively
