Why choose Newcross?

Newcross applies rigorous standards when recruiting new staff, ensuring we only employ people with a compassionate approach who genuinely care for the well-being of service users. The most important thing to us is that they’ll consistently provide the best possible care during every shift.

Candidates are considered for their aptitude and suitability through a detailed process. It’s a robust system, which means that the people we hire can be proud to wear the Newcross uniform and we can be certain that they’ll do an amazing job. This also gives peace of mind to our clients and service users who can be confident that they’re in the hands of trusted experts.

Our safe recruitment process

When you ask Newcross Healthcare to provide care in the home or at your setting, you can be confident that we’ll place a reliable, honest, and trained healthcare professional in the role thanks to our streamlined safe recruitment process. Only around one in eight applicants ends up wearing the Newcross uniform, which shows just how selective we are when it comes to hiring the best healthcare assistants, nurses, and support workers.

Initial screening

When we receive an application for one of our healthcare jobs, we not only assess the merits of the individual, their qualifications and experience, but also their desire to care for clients. When we meet with the applicant, we can discuss this with them and decide whether or not to accept their application.

Interview

The next stage is an in-depth interview with a Business Centre Manager or Team Leader at one of our branches. The candidate will need to demonstrate their knowledge and experience, but also their passion for care. In the interview, we can judge whether or not they’re right for Newcross. Registered nurses are taken through a skills checklist by a Skills Recruiter or by the Business Centre Manager if they’re a qualified nurse.

References and checks

Before hiring, we carry out an enhanced criminal record check. We’ll thoroughly check the applicant’s references for their last three years of employment and/or study. This includes anyone wanting to rejoin Newcross. They must submit references for the jobs they’ve had since leaving and we also check whether the applicant has a valid moving and handling certificate.

Induction

By the time we invite someone to join the Newcross team they will have been thoroughly vetted. If they need any further training, we ensure they receive it. Before working a single shift, each new hire must pass through our induction programme. If they’ll be working with a client with complex needs, they will be given another induction specific to that situation by existing staff and a clinical assessor.
